GPTLocalhost requires your permission to install itself as a local Word Add-in. Please follow these steps if you use Mac.

  • Click “Install Word Add-in locally” to trigger the installation.

  • On Mac, a local Word Add-in requires a “manifest.xml” file in the following “wef” folder, according to Microsoft.
    • ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Documents/wef
  • Microsoft Word recognizes the local Word Add-in through such settings.
  • GPTLocalhost will create the required settings, but creating the “manifest.xml” file in the “wef” folder requires your permission.
  • During installation, the following message will pop up to remind you to select the “wef” folder for granting access.

  • The installation will pop up a dialog box with “wef” folder as the target to open. Please click “Open” button.
  • Once done, you will see the following confirmation.

  • After all configurations, you can click “Done” in the following to finish the installation.

  • In Microsoft Word, you can now activate GPTLocalhost under “Developer Add-ins” and run it locally.
  • With GPTLocalhost, you can connect your favorite LLM server(s) in your Word application.

  • Enjoy your productivity boost locally and privately. No cloud-based LLM servers are required.
